Rev Ashok Amarasingham was born in 1964 in Kuala Lumpur. He is the youngest in a small family that includes his father, mother and sister. Since infancy, he was brought up in God’s ways as both his parents were committed to Jesus Christ.

His entire primary school days (till Form 2) were spent in Penang as his dad was the Head of the Chemistry Department (Government) there. The whole family shifted back to Petaling Jaya in 1979 and worshipped God at SS Methodist Church, Petaling Jaya. After completing his matriculation programme, he went to Monash University (Melbourne) in the mid 1980’s to pursue his Bachelor of Science. He got his degree in 1986 and returned to Malaysia for two years. In 1988, he returned to Melbourne to study theology at the Bible College of Victoria. He completed his Bachelor of Theology in 1991 and applied to TRAC as a pastor.

Since December 1991, he has served as Assistant Pastor in Canning Garden Methodist Church, Ipoh (Dec 1991-Dec 1992), Pastor in Taiping Wesley (1993-1999), Pastor in Canning Garden Methodist Church, Ipoh (2000-2009) and currently Pastor in Klang Wesley Methodist Church (since 2009).

He married Jane (Tan Hooi Leng) in February 1993. They do not have any children but consider the church family as their spiritual children. Simba, their pet dog, has been with them since 1997. Pastor’s mother, Susheela, and her Indonesian helper, Roslinda, have been staying with them since 2006.
