Prayer Points: August 18, 2019

Sunday, (Aug 18) –Pray that the Lord will help us to recognize Him as He walks with us every day, and to teach us how to walk our road in life. Ask for His forgiveness for our failure to see Him, hear Him, and learn of Him. Pray that the Holy Spirit will open the Scriptures to us so that we understand His saving work in our lives. Pray that the Lord will rekindle our faith, that His light may shine in us. Pray that our hearts will burn within us as we realize all that He has done for us. Pray that His Spirit will empower us, and give us words to share the Good News, and the courage to speak of Christ, in a manner that will transform live and glorify Him.

Monday, (Aug 19) – Pray for the World: Pray for Hong Kong as months of protests have taken a major toll on the city’s economy, with no end in sight. The Chinese government might have no other choice but to intervene if Hong Kong’s police force cannot contain what has become a “flash mob” rebellion with violent acts getting more intense, and wider sections of society being affected, and protesters preparing for another weekend of rallies and demonstrations. Pray for God’s intervention to bring an end to the violence. Pray also for the Church to be God’s instrument to bring about peace to the city.

Tuesday, (Aug 20) – Our Sunday School will be celebrating Sunday School Sunday (SSS) this Sunday, August 25, 2019. Pray that all the parents will ensure that all the children will be present for the rehearsal on Saturday, August 24, and on SSS. Pray for good support from the parents and from our church members. Pray for good health for all the children and teachers, and a spirit of unity and joy on that day. Pray for God’s anointing upon the speaker, and that the message will bless and enrich everyone. Pray that the entire service will flow smoothly and God be glorified.

Wednesday, (Aug 21) – Pray for the Nation: Pray for the government to have success in wiping out corruption, as it is still dealing with the remnants of corruption. Pray for wisdom for the nation’s leaders in the restructuring and reform of institutions that are still ongoing. Pray that the civil service will embrace the new identity of the nation of being ‘Malaysia Bersih’ – a nation that is corruption free.

Thursday, (Aug 22) – Pray for pastor, the church leaders, and the Cell Group Leaders that they will remain steadfast, always abounding in God’s work. Pray that the Lord will bless them with a spirit of encouragement so that they will walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which they have been called. Pray that He will lead them to walk with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for those around them in love, and that they would be diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Pray for God’s protection and covering upon our leaders and their families.

Friday, (Aug 23) – Pray for TRAC: Trinity Methodist Church in PJ will be celebrating its 60th Anniversary on August 25, 2019. Praise God for watching over His church all these years. Pray for a truly great celebration, and for Bishop Ong Hwai Teik who will deliver the sermon at the Sunday Worship Service. Pray for the pastors of the church, Rev Paul Christie, Rev Joshua Hong & Pastor Lewis Loke, that they will always work in unity, and for God’s favour upon them and their families. Pray especially for those who are senior citizens and long-time members of the church, that God’s grace be upon them on this memorable church milestone. Above all, pray that God will use His church as a witness to the community.

Saturday, (Aug 24) – Pray that God will pour His Spirit upon the Church of Malaysia to help His people in our pursuit for holiness. Pray that God’s Spirit will help us to love, read and meditate on God’s Word, and to apply it to our lives so that we will grow in holiness. Pray that we will be filled with the Holy Spirit to survive and overcome the corruption that surrounds us. Above all, pray against the spirit of apathy and complacency that threatens to forestall and hinder the Church of Malaysia from fervent intercession for the needs of the nation. Pray that the Church will rise up to pray as fervently as it did prior to GE14.
