Sunday, (Aug 25) – Praise God for the celebration of Sunday School Sunday today. Pray for God’s blessing upon the Sunday School ministry, that the children will build a strong foundation for the Christian life, and for more pre-believing children to come. Pray that the children will connect with God, and honour Him in all areas of their lives. Pray that they will embrace a life of integrity and goodness, even in childhood, and that parents will keep at bay the multitude of negative influences and ideas bombarded at them daily by the media. Above all, pray for Christian parents to take the responsibility to be the primary teachers of God’s truth to their children.
Monday, (Aug 26) – Pray that God will enable us to be strong and courageous every day, being confident in His help and sustaining love as we face daily challenges in our lives. Pray that He will give us strength and courage to face our fears, to forgive those who have offended us, to love those who are unlovable, to stand up for Christ even when those around us are denying Him, to share the Gospel with those who do not know Christ, and to overcome every temptation. Pray that in the power of the Holy Spirit, the Lord will develop in us a godly wisdom and courage to live our Christian lives as salt and light in a darkened world.
Tuesday, (Aug 27) – Pray that we will choose not to be defiled by the things of this world. Pray that we will choose to be holy, as God is holy, and to live our lives in a manner that is worthy of the Lord, and pleasing to Him. Pray that God will help us to keep looking to Jesus – and to keep our minds on the things above, not on the things that are of this world system. Pray that as we choose to honour God, He will empower us to look away from the things of the world and to pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, and relationships. Pray that God will prevent us from being squeezed into the world’s mold, but rather be conformed more and more, into the image and likeness of Christ.
Wednesday, (Aug 28) – Pray that all our church members will sincerely desire to grow as disciples of Christ: to know and love Him, to grow in Him, to serve Him, and to share Him. Pray that we will be intentional in our spiritual formation, and engage in the spiritual disciplines of reading and meditating on His Word, worship, and prayer, with intentionality. Pray that the Holy Spirit will renew, re-educate, and redirect our minds so we will be truly transformed. Pray that we will offer ourselves as living sacrifices – daily laying aside our own desires to follow Christ, putting all our energy and resources at His disposal, and trusting the Holy Spirit to guide us
Thursday, (Aug 29) – Pray for the Nation: Praise God that our nation will celebrate our 62nd year of independence on August 31, 2019. Thank God for His hand of protection and faithfulness over our nation all these years. Pray for God’s wisdom upon the government to deal with all divisive, malicious, and religious talk, and not allow it to cause fear and disharmony in the nation. Pray that God will deliver those who are trapped by the lies of the enemy, and cleanse our nation from all distorted facts.
Friday, (Aug 30) – Pray for TRAC: Remember the retired ministers of TRAC in prayer. A few of them are in their eighties, namely Bishop Emeritus Dr. Denis C. Dutton & Rev Ng Ee Lin. Pray for good health, and for God’s love to always surround them and their family members. Several of them occasionally preach and do pastoral ministry. Pray that the joy of the Lord will be their strength, and they will serve the Lord with gladness always.
Saturday, (Aug 31) – Pray for the World: North Korea remains a very secretive and oppressive country. Christians can be executed for the “crime” of owning a Bible. Some Christians also die from the harsh conditions in the labour camps where they are sent to serve long sentences. Praise God for the wonderful and enduring faith of North Korean believers. Pray that the Church will grow, not shrink, under this extreme persecution. Pray that the Lord will continue to give grace to His people to keep on persevering in faith.
