Prayer Points: December 2, 2018

Sunday, (Dec 2) – Today is the first Sunday of the Advent season. As we begin Advent, praise and thank God for the miracle of His Son’s birth, for bringing great joy to the whole world, and for giving us the assurance that because He came to us in the form of a Human, we who believe in Jesus can know with absolute certainty that we will spend eternity with Him. Pray that in the midst of our busy and stressful lives, the Lord will help us slow down, listen to His voice, and focus on what’s really important. Pray that we will set aside time to reflect on the second Advent – Christ’s second, glorious coming, and wait in anticipation of an event we can only dimly imagine – an event where all that is right, good, and truthful will come to fruition in His perfect timing.

Monday, (Dec 3) – VBS 2018 begins today till Friday (December 3-7, 2018). Cover the camp with daily prayer. Pray for all the teachers and helpers to be rooted in Christ, so they will lead and minister to the kids with the grace and love of Jesus. Pray for God’s strength and wisdom upon Pastor Nicholas as he does the teaching sessions. As there will be pre-believing kids, kids who are not proficient in English nor Bible knowledge, pray that the Holy Spirit will grant them understanding of what they are learning, and they will be touched by the love of God. Pray that the kids will connect well with one another, especially with those from lower income homes. Pray for good weather, smooth traffic flow and good health for every one throughout the duration of the camp. Pray for God’s protection and safety for the kids and adults who are staying in the church during the camp.

Tuesday, (Dec 4) – Pray for the Nation: Pray for peace to prevail in Malaysia. In the name of Jesus, tear down the powers of darkness, the divisive forces of race and religion that seek to bring about disunity, hatred and prejudices among the various races in the nation. Pray against all who instigate and plan violence. Pray that the governing authorities, and the police will take decisive action against such people. Pray for God’s protection and covering upon the government and the people of Malaysia.

Wednesday, (Dec 5) – Pray for the World: Pray for Imran Khan, the new Prime Minister of Pakistan, who has announced that he wants to follow the legacy of Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, whose vision was for all citizens to be equal. Pakistani Christians, who are despised and discriminated against, are greatly encouraged by this pledge. Pray that Imran Khan will be able to achieve his vision, despite opposition from the Muslim population.

Thursday, (Dec 6) – Pray for preparations for the Christmas drama. As there are about 80 people involved, pray that everyone will give his/her best for Jesus, and for the unity of the Holy Spirit to bind them together. Pray for God’s blessings upon all the rehearsals, that the focus will always be on Jesus, and all will proceed smoothly. Pray that our church members will invite their friends for the presentation on December 23, 2018 or on Christmas Day. Pray that God will begin to work in the hearts and minds of the people coming so they will be open to what God is saying to them through the drama.

Friday, (Dec 7) – Pray for TRAC: Praise God for a good 43rd Session TRAC (November 24-26, 2018). Transfers for 2019 affecting Central District 2 (CD2) include Rev Ting Moy Hong moving to Penang Wesley, and Rev Paul Christie moving to PJ Trinity; and Rev Teoh Lee Y’ng moving to Melaka Wesley and Rev Gaurri Maniam moving to Living Hope Methodist Church in Bukit Rimau. Pray for smooth transitioning, especially in the first half of 2019. Pray for meaningful farewells. Pray that the enemy will never get the upper hand in the emotions of both the pastors and their parishes.

Saturday, (Dec 8) – The Sunday School Christmas Party will be held tomorrow, December 9, 2018. Pray that the kids who attended VBS, especially those from pre-believing homes, will come for the party. Pray for the programme, that the simple message and quiz will teach the kids the true meaning of Christmas – the birth of Jesus, the greatest Gift of all. Pray that everyone will have an enjoyable time, and that the pre-believing kids will desire to come to our Sunday School next year.
