Prayer Points: July 29, 2018

Sunday, (July 29) – Praise God for our Sunday School Sunday Celebration today. Pray for the ministry of Sunday School, for more children to come every Sunday, especially children from pre-believing and non-church homes. Thank God for all the teachers and helpers who faithfully serve in this ministry. Pray that God will grant them wisdom, and they will impact the children with the love of Jesus in the way they teach and love the children. Pray that the children will be open to the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives, and will cultivate a living, personal relationship with Christ.

Monday, (July 30) – Pray that we will reject the distorted physical standards that the media portrays today and instead see ourselves through God’s eyes – created in His image and beautiful in His sight. Pray that we will focus on our identity in Christ, that we significant, secure and totally accepted by God. Pray that God will make us beautiful on the inside as we choose to develop our character to be more Christ-like. Pray that God will enable us to get our attitude towards money straight, so that we will store up treasures in heaven, and not on earth. Pray that the Lord will teach us how to use our wealth wisely that He has entrusted to us, not to indulge ourselves with it, but to use it to help those in need, and for the furtherance of His kingdom.

Tuesday, (July 31) – Pray for the Nation: Five schools in the nation have been ordered to close due to the contagious hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD), in order to prevent the spread of the disease. Pray that parents and child-care providers will be alert and will prioritise hygiene so that the disease will be contained and not spread to other children. Pray especially for teachers in kindergartens and daycare centres to be extra careful and to ensure that children with HFMD stay home so they will not infect other children. Pray for wisdom for the health authorities, that, with the cooperation of parents, the disease will be contained and eradicated.

Wednesday, (Aug 1) – The Freed To Lead Course will be held from August 12 – October 28, 2018. Pray that our church leaders – LCEC & Cell Leaders – will come for the course. Pray that those who are not holding any leadership positions in church will also come, as everyone is in some form of leadership, whether in the workplace, in the home, or in the community. Pray that people will sign up for the course, and that they will be blessed as they learn to understand the people they already are in Christ so that they can become the leaders God created them to be.

Thursday, (Aug 2) – The Methodist Women Week of Prayer & Self Denial will be held from August 5 – August 11, 2018. Pray that the women in our church will participate in this. Pray that as they read the daily Scripture passages and seek God in prayer, they will hear specifically from Him. Pray also that as the women meet together on Saturday, August 11, it will be a blessed and encouraging time as they share with one another what they have heard from the Lord.

Friday, (Aug 3) – Pray for TRAC: Recently, TRAC President, Rev Dr T. Jeyakumar, appointed Rev Henry Yong (retired pastor) to pastor Wesley Methodist Church, Kepong from August 1 to the end of 2018. Pray that Rev Henry Yong will readjust to life as an active pastor in ministry after a break of more than 18 months. Pray for a good and meaningful period of building relationships between pastor and the leaders of the church, as well as with the congregation. Pray also for Mrs Henry Yong and their daughter, Peace.

Saturday, (Aug 4) – Pray for the World: The Communist government of China, which allows a certain number of Bibles to be printed and distributed to churches every year, has banned the online sale of Chinese Bibles. There is an urgent need for Bibles in China, where the Church is growing rapidly, and where many new believers are vulnerable to false teaching. Pray for God to intervene, and that Bibles will be made available to all Christians so that they will grow up in their salvation and be deeply rooted in their faith.
