Scripture Text: Mark 14: 1 – 11
Introduction
The woman’s extravagant act of devotion towards Jesus.
Explanation
Close proximity to Jesus does not guarantee faithfulness. To have greater intimacy with Jesus requires greater watchfulness.
The whole act of breaking the jar speaks volume to the totality of her giving unto the Lord.
The woman’s act of devotion and worship towards Jesus was severely criticised.
The woman criticised by the disciples but Jesus defended her.
Final Word
When we love, serve and worship God from our hearts we can be assured that God receives all of it as something beautiful.
Reflection Question
1. Are you willing to give unto the Lord until it breaks you? Ponder on your response.
2. Have you ever been criticised by others with regards to your act of devotion to God? How would you respond having known that Jesus defends you?
3. How can we persevere in our worship and service unto the Lord having known that Jesus would defend us?
