Sermon Title: Confession of Sin and Restoration
Scripture Text: Daniel 9

Introduction
God assured Daniel through the visions in chapter 7 and 8, that He will establish His everlasting kingdom through the Son of Man. He will ultimately restore His people and His temple.
In chapter 9, we find Daniel turning to the Lord in an intense prayer. What motivated him to this prayer?
1. Preparation for prayer (vv1-3)
God’s promise through Jeremiah motivated Daniel to pray to the Lord – confessing the sins of people and pleading for God’s mercy (Jeremiah 25:11-12; 29:10, Deuteronomy 28:1-2,15,64; 30:1-3).
2. Daniel’s prayer (vv4-19)
– Daniel affirms who God is. He acknowledges and confesses the
sins of Israel.
– Daniel represents the people in his prayer.
– Daniel appeals for God’s mercy.
3. Answer for Daniel’s prayer (vv20-27)
The vision includes a time frame and the events that will take place during that time. The numbers may be symbolical and intended to be an idea.
‘seven’/weeks = period of seven days or years
God answered with assurance and also with warning.
Ultimately there will be the eradication of evil and the establishment of righteousness (v24).
Conclusion & Reflection
May we remain faithful to God even in the midst of uncertainty in our lives, confessing our sins and interceding for the world.
If the Holy Spirit leads you to confess things in your life that are not pleasing to God, you may speak to God and seek for His forgiveness.
God is faithful, just and forgiving (1 John 1:9)
