Missions : God’s Heartbeat Our Heartbeat

We talk of the Second Coming; half the world has never heard of the first. (Oswald J. Smith)

Lost people matter to God, and so they must matter to us. (Keith Wright)

If I had 1,000 lives, I’d give them all for China. (Hudson Taylor, missionary to China)

If you found a cure for cancer, wouldn’t it be inconceivable to hide it from the rest of mankind? How much more inconceivable to keep silent the cure from the eternal wages to death.  (Dave Davidson)

We must be global Christians with a global vision because our God is a global God.  (John Stott)

God had only one Son and He made that Son a missionary. (David Livingstone, missionary to Africa)

God is a God of missions. He wills missions. He commands missions. He demands missions. He made missions possible through His Son. He made missions actual in sending the Holy Spirit.   (George Peters)

We should not ask, “What is wrong with the world?” for that diagnosis has already been given. Rather, we should ask, “What has happened to the salt and light?”  (John Stott)

I’ve seen for too many Christians who are more willing to travel halfway around the world to volunteer for a week in an orphanage, but who cannot bring themselves to take the personal risk of sharing Jesus with the co-worker who sits day after day in the cubicle right next to them. (Lee Strobel)

There are only three kinds of Christians when it comes to world missions: zealous goers, zealous senders, and disobedient. (John Piper)

I believe that in each generation God has called enough men and women to evangelize all the yet unreached tribes of the earth. It is not God who does not call. It is man who will not respond!

(Isobel Kuhn, missionary to China and Thailand)

If you take missions out of the Bible, you won’t have anything left but the covers.    (Nina Gunter)

Easter started bright and early @ Klang Wesley with the combined church service at the carpark in front of the Anglican Church.

We then had a wonderful Easter breakfast as a family in the multipurpose hall in Klang Wesley before proceeding to our Easter Sunday Service. The Creative Arts Ministry of Klang Wesley, under the very capable leadership of our resident music genius, Jane Amarasingham, put up a short but very meaningful drama entitled “The Three Trees”.

Gotong Royong Photos – 18 February 2012

Clean up time @ Klang Wesley when young people from ages 5 to 75 came to clean up the church premises. As Bro. Raymond Tan said “It was beautiful to see the church as a family working together”. You can view the photos here or go to our Facebook Page to view more photos from our many events.

The Essence Of Survival

Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed.

Every morning, a lion wakes up. It knows it must out-run the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn’t matter if we are a lion or a gazelle…when the sun comes up, you better be running.

Running for survival? Don’t usually need a reminder about that: I hit the floor at full tilt, my brain rocketing into orbit the minute I wake up. Some days I’m the hunter. Others, I’m the hunted. But there’s more to the story. While I’m racing through life at the speed of light, I must keep in mind who is really in charge. What happens when the heat turns up and I go into pressure cooker-mode? Will I trust the One who made the stars and placed them in the sky?

One of my favourite verses is Jeremiah 29:11 – I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out – plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. (The Message)
It comforts me greatly to know that He’s got my back, whether I’m a pursuer or a pursuee. He promises me a future and a hope. And He has plans. I may not always see them. Or just may not want to listen.

Sometimes life is hard and we wonder where He is. But He says He will never abandon me. I need to hang on to that. Even when it’s a jungle out there.   (KIMBERLY RUSSELL)

God Is Not A Gotcha God

“Commit your work to the Lord, and then your plans will succeed.” Proverbs 16:3 (NLT)

God is for your success in life; He created you for a purpose and He wants you to succeed. It is God, your Creator, who will measure your success in life, and no one else.

Knowing God is for you will change your whole perspective on life. You’ll stop thinking of God as someone looking down from Heaven, ready to yell “Gotcha!” anytime you mess up. This is extremely good news!

It means you don’t need to be afraid of God, because God is for you. Yet some people are so afraid of God that they get nervous just talking about Him. Do you know why? They feel guilty, and then they start thinking, “If I get close to God, He’s going to lecture me. He’s going to remind me of all the things I’ve done wrong, and then I’ll feel even worse!”

Nothing could be further from the truth of God. Jesus said, “I did not come into the world to condemn it, but to save it”. In effect, Jesus is saying, “I didn’t come to scold you; I came to save you.”

If God if for us, who can be against us?

(RICK WARREN)

Obedience our Gift to God

The consequence of disobedience to the clearly revealed will of God is that the time will come when we will no longer be able to hear God speaking to us. (Selwyn Hughes)

The true follower of Christ will not ask, “If I embrace this truth, what will it cost me?” Rather he will say, “This is truth. God help me to walk in it, let come what may!” (A. W. Tozer)

We don’t serve God to gain His acceptance; we are accepted so we serve God. We don’t follow Him in order to be loved; we are loved so we follow Him. (Neil T. Anderson)

A little drop of simple obedience is worth a million times more than a whole vase of the choicest contemplation. (Maria Maddalena)

Just as worship begins in holy expectancy, it ends in holy obedience. If worship does not propel us into greater obedience, it has not been worship. (Richard J. Foster)

Look at it this way. If you choose which commands you will obey and which you don’t obey, you aren’t obeying at all. You are doing all the time what you decided to do.   (Elizabeth Rice Handford)

My mother let my brother, Tom play with paper bags she’d saved if he put them away afterwards. One day she walked into the kitchen to find them strewn all over the floor. Tom was out at the piano with his father singing hymns. When confronted, he protested, “But Mom, I want to sing.” His father stated, “It’s no good singing God’s praise if you’re disobedient.” (Elisabeth Elliot)

Obedience deepens our intimacy with Jesus. If we want to know the Father, we must not only love Him, but also obey Him. Scripture is clear that it is important to know the Father through His Word, and if we want to be a part of what the Father is doing and to be able to see where He is moving then it is clear that we must obey His commands. It is important to be biblically literate, but we must also be biblically obedient! (John Wimber)
