Prayer List: April 18, 2021

Sunday, (Apr 18) – Ask God for forgiveness that too many times we have tried to live independently of Him and have put ourselves and our needs first. Pray that God will give us the mindset and the grace to want to deny ourselves, take up our cross daily, push our selfish desires away, and choose to focus on eternal things, not temporary things. Pray that He will keep us from being lovers of ourselves, from being wise in our own eyes and leaning to our own understanding. Pray that we will deny ourselves by praying ourselves into God and God into us, so that Christ may be our replacement and become everything to us.

Monday, (Apr 19) – Praise the Lord for the gift of community. Thank the Lord for bringing us together as a community in Wesley Klang. Pray that we, as a Church, will draw near to the Lord each day. Pray that, we, as a Church, will be diligent in practicing our spiritual disciplines as it is through these means of grace that we are able to draw near to God. Pray that we will open up our hearts for God to do a work of transformation. Pray for God’s healing to be upon our lives in every aspect, be it emotional, mental, physical or spiritual.

Tuesday, (Apr 20) – Malaysians must adhere to strict SOP to halt an imminent 4th COVID-19 wave as daily infections are rising again amidst a slow supply of vaccines to the country. Pray for wisdom for the health and government authorities to take appropriate measures to curb the rising daily infections, and for patience and vigilance on the part of the rakyat, that despite experiencing “pandemic fatigue”, the people will be responsible to observe all SOP safeguards. Pray for God’s protection upon all schools and houses of worship that are now open for in-person worship services, that no new clusters will emerge.

Wednesday, (Apr 21) – Pray for the World: Pray for India as the COVID-19 cases have skyrocketed past 14 million overall as an intensifying outbreak puts a grim weight on its fragile healthcare system. Many nations in Europe are also struggling to cope with the rising COVID-19 in their respective nations. Pray for the relevant governments and health authorities of these nations that they will take appropriate steps for the good of its citizens. Pray for God’s intervention to contain the spread of infection in the world’s most densely populated and poorest cities, and that He will spare countries already burdened with disease and chronic poor health.

Thursday, (Apr 22) – Pray for the Nation: Pray that God will shine His light into the darkness in the nation. Pray that He will expose hidden motives and cause demonic agents to fail and flee in Jesus’ powerful name. Pray in Christ’s authority to bind the spiritual “strong men” in the respective neighbourhoods, towns and cities, to bring down demonic strongholds; to pull up deep roots of hatred, racism, corruption, injustice and unrighteousness in the governing systems of the nation.

Friday, (Apr 23) – Pray for TRAC: Pray for all TRAC Pastors. Pray for God’s guidance and wisdom to be upon them. In this season of the pandemic, pray that our Pastors will be able to make wise decisions together with their respective Church leaderships. Pray that God will grant our TRAC Pastors sufficient strength as they go about doing God’s work in this season of uncertainty. Pray for God’s protection to be upon the Pastors and their respective family members.

Saturday, (Apr 24) – Pray for those who are sick that God will comfort them in their suffering, grant skill and wisdom to the hands of their doctors, and bless the means used for their healing. Pray that God will surround those who are struggling financially with people who will help them through this time. Pray that He will meet their immediate needs and provide them with long-term solutions. Pray for people who are alone and have gone without human touch because of the pandemic, for senior adults living in nursing homes, wondering when they will be able to see their loved ones again, and for anyone fighting a mental illness that worsens in isolation, that God will grant them His presence, comfort and peace.

History Is His Story

What difference should Daniel 7 make in our lives? If this is ancient prophecy that touches ancient history and yet-future events, should it matter to us? I assert it does; so how, then, should we live? Here are four prayers to express to God.

1. Pray that your view of God would enlarge. If you’ve had a faulty view of God, ask Him to correct your perspective. He is not a god who is made in your image and fits in your back pocket. He is large and in charge! A.W. Tozer once said, “The most important thing about you is what comes to your mind when you think about God.” If your view of God is right, your life will be transformed.

2. Pray that your trust in worldly kingdoms would shrink. Man looks upon the great kingdoms of the world with awe and pride, but God looks on them as wild beasts that rule by brute power. God will ultimately destroy these brute beasts because they live by might and blood. They are bestial, but God will tame them. Don’t be impressed with the kingdoms of the world; they come, they go, they rise, they fall, and soon God will destroy them all. Use the world, but don’t fall in love with it. Prepare yourself spiritually. Pray, serve, and join a small group. Get ready for eternity.

3. Pray for freedom from anxiety. The best and worst is yet to come. While there will be trials and tests, there will not be any surprises for our great God. Satan is like a marionette, and God is pulling his strings. As Martin Luther once said, “Even the devil is God’s devil.” God is not worried about the “little horn” (Daniel 7:8) or any other horn for that matter. He knows how to “de-horn” the antichrist when the time comes. So take heart and trust in God. Though many things that happen around us make no sense at all, we can be confident that God is working out His plan step by step. He will be victorious! I’ve read the end of the book, and we win. Bad days are coming for planet earth, but in the end those who know the Lord will reign with Him.

4. Pray for courage in the difficult days to come. If Daniel 7 is to be taken literally, it predicts a deterioration of the spiritual condition as we enter the final period of world history. Our call is to be strong and of good courage while we wait for Christ’s return. God is looking for a remnant of believers, who will not compromise their faith, but who will stand strong in these difficult days. He will give us the courage, but we must fear Him more than man.

Humankind wants to achieve her own destiny of peace, but God will not permit this because the world wants peace without the Prince of Peace. World peace will not come by the human efforts of the United Nations but by the supernatural intervention of God. Thus, we should not look for ultimate hope of world peace via the nations of the world. Instead, we must look for a different King and Kingdom. Heaven rules human history! (razorplanet.com)

Prayer List: April 11, 2021

Sunday, (Apr 11) – Praise God that He is in total control of the history of our world. Pray that the Lord will help us to have a correct perspective of Him so that our lives will be transformed. Pray that we will not put our hope in the temporal things of this world, but prepare ourselves spiritually for eternity, and focus on the eternal values of God. Pray that knowing that ultimate victory belongs to God will grant us freedom from anxiety as we face trials and tests in this world. Pray that we will choose to trust God even when things that happen around us do not make sense. Pray that we will be strong and of good courage, and not compromise our faith as we await the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Monday, (Apr 12) – Give thanks to God for a meaningful Holy Week. Pray that as a church, we will continue to draw close to God through prayer and the reading of the Word. Pray that as a church, we will desire to feed on the Word of God. Pray that God’s Word will penetrate into our lives and transform our lives to be more Christ-like. Pray that as a community of God’s people, we may be able to spur and encourage one another. Pray for those who are battling illnesses. Pray for God’s grace to be their sufficient strength. Pray that their lives will be a living testimony of God’s goodness despite the illnesses.

Tuesday, (Apr 13) – Even as our church is now open for in-person services, pray for the Worship Ministry as the various worship teams prepare to lead worship in the new normal. Pray for unity and good coordination between all the team members. Pray that the members of the worship teams will continue to deepen their relationship with God, and lead out of the fullness of that relationship. Pray for God’s protection upon them. Pray also for the other ministries in the church, that although they are not able to meet physically, the Lord will bless those who are meeting via online, and that His people will continue to prosper in their relationship with Him.

Wednesday, (Apr 14) – As the daily COVID-19 infections continue to be in the four-digit range, and new daily infections are outweighing the recoveries, pray that the public will not let their guard down, but that each individual will take personal responsibility to follow the SOPs. With new clusters emerging due to unnecessary travels, pray that the rakyat will cooperate with the police as they will be increasing the number of road-blocks at state borders ahead of the fasting month. Pray also for God’s protection upon the education sector as all schools have now reopened. Pray that students, parents, teachers and others involved in the education sector will do their part to prevent new clusters from emerging.

Thursday, (Apr 15) – Pray for the Nation: The 12th Sarawak State Election will be held on or before 7 August 2021 to elect the 19th Sarawak State Legislative Assembly. However, no election can be held until August 1, 2021 following the declaration of emergency by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. Pray for this upcoming Sarawak State Elections, for the integrity of the election process to be upheld, and that honourable people of wisdom and moral uprightness to be raised as representatives of the people. Pray for Sarawak, and also for Sabah, given that they have crucial and strategic roles to play for a better future for Malaysia.

Friday, (Apr 16) – Pray for TRAC: Continue to pray for our TRAC Bishop, Bishop Joshua Khong. Pray for God’s anointing to be upon him as he leads the Trinity Annual Conference. Pray that God will speak and reveal His heart for the Annual Conference to him. Pray for God’s wisdom to be upon him and that God will surround our Bishop with people who would be able to work alongside him and to encourage him as well. Pray for God’s covering to be upon his entire family as well.

Saturday, (Apr 17) – Pray for the World: There seems to be a torrent of hate and violence against people of Asian descent around the United States that began in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic. Asian communities across the United States are on alert because of a surge in attacks against Asian-Americans over the past year. Pray that the government will pass laws against this upsurge of racist violence, and that the law enforcement authorities will do their part to protect the Asians in the country.

Missing Sunday Meeting

It’s Sunday and the disciples have assembled together. The disciples had met the Sunday before, but Thomas wasn’t with them. Thomas wasn’t there when Jesus appeared to them. The disciples shared the good news of Jesus’ resurrection, but Thomas said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” (John 20:25)

Too bad Thomas missed that meeting. Had he made it, he would have experienced the bodily presence of Jesus and believed a week early. His doubt would have been erased and his faith would have been increased. But because Thomas missed that last meeting his doubt endured.

John 20:24 says that Thomas was also known as Didymus. Didymus means twin in the Greek, so who’s twin is he?

He’s the twin of you and he’s the twin of me.

Have you ever missed a meeting with the Lord? I know I have. Missing meetings means missing out. Missing out on experiencing fellowship with the body of Christ. Missing out on believing. Missing out on increased faith. Had Thomas made it to the first meeting he would have seen Jesus and believed. His doubt would have been erased and his faith would have been increased!

That’s what happens to us when we make meetings.

Because Thomas missed the last meeting his doubt endured. It’s the same with you and the same with me. When we miss meetings, when we miss hearing the Word of God whatever doubts we have endure.

No doubt Thomas had his reasons for missing. He worked hard all week so perhaps he was too tired. But whatever his reason, when he missed the meeting, he missed out on experiencing the presence of Jesus in a unique way. He missed out on the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. He missed out on a tremendous blessing.

Oh, twin of doubting Thomas, don’t you see that Thomas didn’t believe until he touched Jesus? Don’t you see it’s the same for you today? You won’t believe until you touch Him.

So touch Him. Study Jesus’ life in the Scriptures. Encounter Jesus with His believers. Do these things and you too will believe! Like Thomas, you too will find yourself responding to Him, saying, “My Lord and my God!”
