Prayer List: April 4, 2021

Sunday, (Apr 4) – Today is Easter Sunday and we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Praise God that Jesus is our risen, ascended, and glorified God and Lord, who died to redeem us and rose to give us His resurrected life. Thank the Lord that even when we doubt Him and are faithless, He remains faithful to His promise that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. Pray that we will not rely on senses or emotions to inform us of His love and grace but will trust His Word and the truths and promises it contains. Pray that God will strengthen our faith in Him, and send us out as messengers to proclaim Him as our Lord and our God.

Monday, (Apr 5) – Pray for all Christian families. Pray for God’s emotional, physical and spiritual protection over all family members. Pray that He will guard their minds from harmful instruction and grant them discernment to recognize His truth. Pray that the Gospel message will be the root of gratitude in the hearts of parents, leading them to thankful and grateful living, thereby setting an example to their children. Pray that family members will be grateful for one another and pray for each other continually. Pray that this attitude of gratitude for one another will bind families together, and their prayers for each other will further unify them in gratitude and love.

Tuesday, (Apr 6) – The Ministry of Health reported that the highly contagious COVID-19 variant from South Africa has been detected in Malaysia. Pray for wisdom for the health ministry to implement public health measures to prevent the incoming of new variants into the country. Pray that the rakyat will not become negligent and lackadaisical, and take it easy on following the SOPs following the decline in the number of daily COVID-19 cases. Pray for God’s protection upon learning institutions as all secondary schools were reopened on Monday, April 5, 2021.

Wednesday, (Apr 7) – Pray for the Nation: Pray that the leaders of our nation will be God fearing, and they will be good and hardworking politicians of integrity and good conscience. Pray that God will overturn corruption and money politics which overshadow elections and decisions on government regulations and policies. Pray for accountability and good governance at the highest office of government, from the Cabinet down to the civil services. Pray that MPs will be trustworthy and true to their electorates, bearing in mind that they have been elected to their positions by the people.

Thursday, (Apr 8) – Pray for the World: As the violence between protestors and the military junta in Myanmar escalates, the United Nations warned of the risk of a bloodbath because of an intensified crack-down on the anti-coup protestors. Pray that the call from nations around the world for a de-escalation of the situation and the further release of detainees will be heeded by the military regime. Pray that God will grant wisdom and success to the South-East Asian countries as they work together towards a peaceful solution in Myanmar. Pray that God will continue to protect the innocent civilians.

Friday, (Apr 9) – Pray for TRAC: Praise God that in Wesley Methodist Church Kuala Lumpur, a group of more than 10 persons were baptized during the Palm Sunday weekend following the SOPs. Pray that the children who were baptized will grow strong in the Lord, and their parents will faithfully nurture them in the ways of God as they grow. Pray that the adults who were baptized will take their faith seriously, and will grow in discipleship as they have made a lifelong commitment to follow Jesus.

Saturday, (Apr 10) – The El-Shaddai Refugee Learning Centre (ERLC) began 13 years ago with 22 students only. Today there are more than 1,000 students in main centres, and hundreds more in auxiliary centres found in various towns and cities in Malaysia. God has blessed this vital ministry to educate the refugee children in Malaysia. Recently, 8 students graduated from the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (ICGSE) with good grades. This is a watershed moment for ERLC. Pray that God will provide for all the needs of ERLC and that many students will turn to Christ. Pray also for all the teachers, volunteers and workers of the ERLC centres.

Why Did Christ Weep Over The City?

This love that Christ has for you is just like the love that He had for the people of Jerusalem. If you look at Luke 19:44 you will notice how He referred to them. He called them ‘children.’ Doesn’t this reveal the fatherly care and compassion that He had for them? Psalm 103:13 says, “As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear Him.”

Now we can see that the tears that Jesus shed on His way to Jerusalem were not just tears of grief over their lack of peace, and over their sins of unbelief. They were also tears of unbounded love for His people. Just two days after the Triumphal Entry when Jesus uttered another lamentation over Jerusalem, He expressed His love for her people much more extensively. This is found in Matthew 23:37-39: “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. Look, your house is left to you desolate. For I tell you, you will not see Me again until you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.”

Can you see here how tenderly Jesus loved His people? He longed to gather them like a mother hen under His wings – so that they will find rest in Him (“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28) and life in Him (“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” – .John 10:10). And not only did He want to gather them together under His wings, He says that He had wanted to do it often – He had sought not just once, but again and again to bring them under His wings, but each time He did this, they would not respond.

The tears that Jesus shed for Jerusalem truly reveal His great unbounded love for His own, a love that never ceases to seek earnestly after their welfare and salvation. Dearly beloved, this same Jesus who wept tears of love at that time, weeps also out of love for you now. Have you been like Jerusalem, in a backslidden condition, unwilling to listen to His many calls to you, His calls to obey Him and to renew your first love for Him? Have you grown cold toward Him, refusing to respond to the many tender appeals and warnings He has been giving to you again and again through His Word? If you have been like this, you must respond to His love. Let it draw you back to the Lord. Let His love bind you with a new commitment and resolve to walk with Him each day, and to live for Him each day.

And when you have seen how greatly the Lord Jesus loves you, please do not forget how much He loves others too. Let us do all that we can to make His love known and to bring the lost to Him, so that by the time when Christ will come riding triumphantly from heaven to earth to receive His own and to gather them under His wings, many would have already received Him.
(REV CHARLES SEET)
