Scripture Text: James 1: 1 – 12

Introduction

Trials and challenges we face will test of faith. These times of testing will produce in us endurance that would lead us towards maturity.

Explanation

• James calls us to face all the trials that comes our way with joy. Why? Because at the end of it, God will accomplish his purposes through them.
• The testing of our faith produces perseverance. Faith is tested when trust is tested, and when that happens, perseverance of the lack of it will be seen.
• In all the trials that we face, we must learn to seek and trust in the wisdom of God.
• James calls us to rely on God and His resources when we go through trials.

Final Word

Let remain steadfast in facing our trials with perseverance, then at the end of it, we will receive the crown of life.

Reflection Question
1. Recall the trials that you have experienced? Were you able to face it with joy?
2. Who do you naturally turn to when you face trials? What hinders you from turning to God for wisdom? Turn your thoughts into prayer.
3. Think and share one of your life challenges that enabled you to grow in your perseverance.

Scripture Text: Mark 5: 21 – 43

Introduction
To have a faith that will not shrink is to believe in the power of Jesus, even in the face of seemingly hopeless circumstances.

Explanation
Jesus is someone that allows himself to be interrupted. Jesus is committed to ministering to the needs of humanity.

The bleeding woman wanted a cure but Jesus wanted to have an encounter with her. Jesus desired to have a connection.

Both Jairus and the bleeding woman had a faith that is persistent in overcoming obstacles.

Final Word
Let us learn to ask God to help us grow in our faith that we too may be persistent in believing.

1. Recall a time when you cried out to Jesus for help? What were some moments you hesitated in coming to Jesus?
2. Reflect on your motives in coming to Jesus. Do you come to him because you have a need or do you come to him because you want connect with him?
3. What are some of the challenges and obstacles you need to overcome in order to have in faith in Jesus?
