This Week’s Prayer: 21st – 22nd May 2022

Almighty God,

in a time of great need
you raised up your servants,
John and Charles Wesley,
and by your Spirit inspired them
to kindle a flame of sacred love
which leaped and ran, an inextinguishable blaze.

Grant that all those
whose hearts have been warmed
at these altar fires,
being continually refreshed by your grace,
may be so devoted
to the increase of scriptural holiness
throughout the land
that in this our time of great need,
your will may fully and effectively be done
on earth as it is in heaven;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

Prayer List: 21st – 22nd May 2022

Sunday, ( May 22) – In the words of John Wesley – “I went very unwillingly to a society in Aldersgate Street, where one was reading Luther’s preface to the Epistle to the Romans. About a quarter before nine, while he was describing the change which God works in the heart through faith in Christ, I felt my heart strangely warmed. I felt I did trust in Christ, Christ alone, for salvation; and an assurance was given me that He had taken away my sins, even mine, and saved me from the law of sin and death” – Pray that we would indeed experience a deep assurance of God’s forgiveness and assurance deep down in our hearts.

Monday, (May 23)Cell Group Ministry: Pray for CGs to grow together in the Lord. Pray for God’s wisdom and guidance to be upon all CG Leaders as they lead their respective CGs. Pray that members will be able to connect with God and with one another as they meet together. Pray that through the CG ministry, we may be able to encourage and spur one another on in our walk with God. Pray that members would not neglect coming together to meet.

Tuesday, (May 24) – Pray for Christians around the world to seek the Lord in humility and contrite hearts, repenting of their sinful ways. Pray for God’s peace, unity, and encouragement for the body of Christ, particularly in building one another up. Pray for the Church’s desire to follow Christ by denying oneself, taking up their cross, and following Him by daily surrender to the guidance and leadership of the Holy Spirit and burying the weak lustful flesh. Pray that Christians can only be productive for God by abiding in the Vine (John 15).

Wednesday, (May 25)Pray for the Nation: Pray that God would raise up godly generations (Deuteronomy 6) to become “bright ministers,” as Damansara MP Tony Pua has echoed in leading our nation with godly fingerprints of more transparency, honesty, and complete devotion to serving the welfare of the rakyat. Pray for a shift in the current society that views politics as a “noble profession” rather than political and corrupt. Pray that God may raise up young leaders with godly character and discernment in recognising good and evil for our upcoming 15th general election (GE15).

Thursday, (May 26)TRAC: Pray for the upcoming TRAC Worship Ministry Leaders’ Retreat: Renewed Through Worship. Pray that the Lord will renew the hearts of all those who would be attending the retreat. Pray that as worship leaders engage with one another from other TRAC Churches, they may be refreshed to lead & mentor their respective worship teams. Pray for good participation by all TRAC Churches.

Friday, (May 27) – As many countries head towards endemicity with their former strict SOPs to be more relaxed today, pray for God’s protection to be upon individuals, especially for little children aged 5 and below who are without vaccination. Pray that God will strengthen their immune systems, help them to learn and obtain the habits of washing hands appropriately and protect them from covid 19 and other infections and diseases, such as Hand, foot and mouth disease.

Saturday (May 28)Pray for the World: Pray that the world come together to tackle with the issue of global warming and climate change, which could result in stronger storms, heatwaves, droughts, wildfires and so on. Pray for God’s wisdom and guidance to be upon each country’s leaders as they commit to taking the necessary steps. Pray that we, as individuals, will take an interest in this issue and do what we can do for the betterment of the world.

This Week’s Prayer: 14th – 15th May 2022

Lord Jesus,

We come to you today in gratitude for the people in our lives.

We pray that in our communities and circles of friends, we would be people who bear one another’s burdens and love at all times.

We pray that we would encourage one another and build each other up while serving one another.

May we daily come to you in prayer, Lord, giving you thanks for all the relationships in our lives and asking that you be present and at work in each of us. Strengthen the bonds we have with one another.

Open our eyes to new friendships we can be making, and new people we can connect with.

Help us to forgive freely, let go of grudges, love humbly, and serve others with a willing spirit.

May all of our relationships give glory back to you, Lord!

Amen.

Prayer List: 14th – 15th May 2022

Sunday, ( May 15) – Pray that the Lord will minister His Word and His love to our congregation through Pr. Dr. Philip Lyn. Pray that we would be able to experience and hear God speak to us clearly. Pray for our hearts to be open to God’s Word and pray that we will truly respond to His Word accordingly. Pray that our church will truly come to know and understand God’s deep love towards each one of us. Pray that in all that we do, we will depend solely upon God’s love and grace upon our lives.

Monday, (May 16)Church: Pray that our church will grow in the area of Evangelism. Pray that our church will be able to step out into the community and share the gospel message. Pray that the gospel be shared through our lives. Pray that people will be open to the gospel message and will embrace Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Pray for all people to know and realize their deep need of Jesus in their hearts. Pray also that gospel may be shared through the work and ministry of Community Services.

Tuesday, (May 17) – Pray for our home to be an intentional missional outpost for Christ and nothing less, to make our home a home for others by giving to the needs of the saints and to display hospitality (Romans 12:13). Pray that our home will always open to show hospitality to strangers (Hebrews 13:2) and a beacon of hope to those who are lost (2 Peter 1:19). Pray for our home to prioritise our real family over biological families by doing good to everyone, especially those in the household of faith (Galatians 6:10).

Wednesday, (May 18)Pray for the Nation: Pray for our government to play a more proactive role in safeguarding junior doctors from their harsh working environment, where they are frequently bullied and overworked, in light of the recent death of a houseman, which is presently being investigated. Pray for wisdom, compassion and fairness for our Health Ministry’s task team in revisiting the circular prohibiting its employees from speaking to media. Pray our Health Ministry will take into account the International Labor Organization’s (ILO) proposal for a cultural change within the medical profession to reduce excessive long work hours, which have a negative impact on occupational health and safety, work-life balance and individual productivity and performance.

Thursday, (May 19)Methodist Prayer Convention: Commit to the Lord all the preparations that are being done for this Convention. Pray that God will move the hearts of the people in our churches to participate in this convention. Pray for the Lord’s anointing and sufficient grace to be upon the speakers that as they speak forth Your Word, it will indeed bear fruit in the hearts of all who will be participating. Pray that through this convention our lives may be renewed through prayer.

Friday, (May 20) – Thanks be to God that we can worship God publicly in this country. May God help us to treasure this precious freedom. Pray for the millions of brothers and sisters who live in fear daily in the places where professing their faith in Christ may be met with persecution and discrimination of pressure, hostility, and violence. Pray for God’s protection, provision, comfort, peace and strength to be upon them. Pray that they can access to God’s Word and He will give them the right words whenever they need to speak. Pray that by God’s immeasurable power and wisdom, He will raise many more people like Paul, turning the persecutors to be the instrument of God’s work.

Saturday (May 21)Pray for the World: Pray for North Korea, which has announced its first death of Covid-19. Pray for God’s wisdom to be upon the authorities as they implement measures to control and prevent the spread of the virus, as well as for the treatment of those who have been affected. Continue to pray for Sri Lanka that the country leaders would recognize the people’s frustrations and needs, and to demonstrate their commitment to improve its economic crisis. Pray that this can be accomplished without violence.
