Prayer List: 2nd – 3rd July 2022

Sunday, (Jul 3) – Thank you for an encouraging narrative about a Canaanite woman whose faith in Jesus has taught generations of Christians that salvation comes not from becoming a Jew, but from faith in Christ. Pray that God will teach us to pray with tenacious faith (like the Canaanite woman) that our prayers will be answered in His mercy. Pray that we will be inspired by this narrative to become more and more like Jesus, who shows compassion to people of other races, ethnic groups, and nationalities who are socially marginalised or voiceless.

Monday, (Jul 4)Pray for family. We thank God that we are a part of the large family in our Lord Jesus as a body of Christ. May God be the centre of each and every home. Pray for God’s grace and strength to be upon parents and grandparents that they will love God wholeheartedly and lead the children to walk in His ways, exercising faith in the person and work of our Lord Jesus. Pray for the youth and young adults that they will desire to have a personal relationship with Jesus and to pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace. Pray that God will protect little children and elderly family members from harm.

Tuesday, (Jul 5) – Pray for our national church leaders to love one another, to work together in unity and humility, and to pray for and care for one another regardless of denominational differences. Pray for repentance and a return to the first love and to serve God with all of their hearts, souls, and minds. Pray for God to raise up Gen Z & Millennial, especially with the declining numbers of theologically trained pastors and ministers in seminaries and bible colleges.

Wednesday, (Jul 6)Pray for the Nation: Pray that God will reign over the political arena in our country and that God’s removal and installation of country leaders (Daniel: 2:21) will be fulfilled. Pray that our government maintains current subsidies in the midst of the cost of living crisis, takes corrective action to ensure food-chain supply stability, and reduces ministerial and deputy ministerial pay as living costs soar. Pray for good governance, bold leadership to combat extremism and humble leaders to step forward to serve as God’s stewards.

Thursday, (Jul 7) – Pray for the Methodist Council of Education (MCOE) and its affiliated schools, colleges and institutions. Pray for continuous God’s providence upon all the schools as they aim to provide comprehensive and holistic education founded on the Methodist Vision, Mission and Philosophy of Education and to impact lives and Nation through it. Pray that God will send more teachers who fear God and have passion in teaching and impacting lives of young people. Pray that God will provide more young people opportunities to attend these schools so that they might not only succeed academically, but also grow to love God and they will be empowered to live with wisdom and humility, justice and integrity, and courage and selflessness.

Friday, (Jul 8) – Pray for our church to press on and persevere in its mission to be a house of prayer for all nations (Isaiah 56:7c), just as the early church prayed (Acts 4:31), offering God the prayer of the church as the body of Christ for Him to accomplish what is in His heart and fulfil His will in this church. Pray for the church to be more intentional in reconnecting with God and with one another through various means, guided and led by the Holy Spirit. Continue to pray for good governance in the church and the country, for “A Renewed Church,” and for holy living so that the church will be strengthened and fortified against the evil one’s attacks.

Saturday (Jul 9)Pray for the World: Continue to pray for God’s divine intervention to put an end to the Russia-Ukraine war, because not only does it destroy the precious lives and the cities in both countries, but it also affects the supply chain globally. Pray for God’s providence to be upon nations and the leaders as some are facing financial crisis. Pray for cooperation from world leaders to bring about peace, political and social stability, and economic recovery in the world. Pray against the next Covid-19 wave outbreak.
