A Good Dad Makes A Godly Decision

Here’s a Lucado hunch about parenting: fathers and mothers enter the child-rearing business at 2 different times. Mothers decide to be mothers long before dads do. A mother carries a baby for 9 months, giving her an opportunity to grow content with her decision to parent the new family member.

Dad, however, goes about his daily routine, pretty much unaffected by what’s going on inside the womb. Oh, he’s supportive and excited, but compared to Mom, he’s an observer. Until delivery time. Then Dad’s world takes on new meaning. He looks into the face of the new life and is faced with the realization: I’m the father of this child. You might call it a “delivery room discovery.” At this point a good dad makes a big decision. He has to decide to become a father. And that decision sets up dominos of decisions he will make for the rest of his life. It’s a rational choice to alter his life, schedule, direction, and priorities in order to be a good dad to the tiny life in his arms.

Fathering a child is, for many, not difficult. But being a father is! It’s the first and most important decision of fathers: to make a conscientious choice to be a father.

The decision to be a father is not just a delivery room decision, though. Some dads leave home before the children are awake. Others arrive home long after the kids are home from school. Consequently, it’s possible, even common, for a father to forget about fathering, to emotionally disconnect himself from his children. Throughout the day, every day, dads need to renew their “dad” decision. “Will I attend this convention?” “Is this meeting essential?” “Can I rearrange these appointments to get home earlier?” on the way home from work, dads have to decide to take off the “work” hat and put on the “dad” hat. It’s a decision to manage his time, carefully reconciling work with the priority of family.

Being a good dad means making tough sacrificial decisions. Decisions that tell our children what is important to us.

Family Day 2012 (Updated!)

Come one Come all!!! Here’s your opportunity to “baptize” Pastor Ashok multiple times in the water-dunk!!! You’ve still got 12 hours to practice your target-ball-throwing!!!

Click here for location map to Wesley Methodist School

Update! Update! Pastor Ashok is EXCITEEEED!!!! He’s shot out an email to all…

“Dear friends,
Family Day of Klang Wesley is on tomorrow, SATURDAY from 730am onwards at Wesley School, Klang (next door). It is open day style so you can come anytime from 730am to 130pm. Free breakfast is given to all but the kids get two extra food coupons to use later in the morning. Adults…not to worry, you can get extra food but at a nominal cost. In fact, we of Klang Wesley should treat (‘belanja’) our friends that we invite as our invited guests.

I checked out the “Dunk the Pastor” game. The water tub is about 5 feet deep! The contraption to make the person fall into the water looks a bit flimsy (maybe it may collapse by itself under my weight without the help of hitting the target…which is the aim of the game). Just remember, not only I will be on the platform chair…other church leaders will be seated on the hot spot too!!

Please remember to come dressed in your fancy dress costumes. You may win a prize for the best dressed.

The inflatable slide cum trampoline like playground equipment is ready. Only 10 to 12 kids permitted inside this per session but tell you what, the kids will have a whale of a time! Why? Because Raymond Tan managed to try it out and he was acting just like a kid in it (no wonder Benjamin is like that!). Well others like Eugenie and Yvonne were enjoying themselves in it later, too.

In short, COME and Bring YOUR FRIENDS too for FAMILY DAY 2012! Make our friends feel like kings and queens!
God bless.”

True God True Man

The Maker of the Universe, as Man for man was made a curse

The claims of laws which He had made, unto the uttermost He paid

His holy fingers made the bough, which grew the thorns that crowned His brow

The nails that pierced His feet were mined in secret places He designed

He made the forests where there sprung, the tree on which His body hung

He died upon a cross of wood, yet made the hill on which it stood

The sky that darkened o’er His head, by Him above the earth was spread

The sun that hid from Him his face, by His decree was poised in space

The spear revealing precious blood, was tempered in the fires of God

The grace in which His form was laid, was hewn in rock which He had made

The throne on which He now appears, was His from everlasting years

But a new glory crowns His brow and every knee to Him must bow. (MICHAEL J. PENFOLD)

Jesus Christ, Fully God & Fully Man

The fact that Jesus was made human gives us confidence that He understands what we are going through. As Hebrews 4:14 says, we have a High Priest who is able to sympathize with our weaknesses, so we can approach the throne of God with complete confidence. Jesus speaks our language. He has learned our language by suffering with us, and because of that we can be confident that He hears us and wants to help us.

And because Jesus is fully God, we can be confident that Jesus has the power to do what He so eagerly desires to do for us, and He has the wisdom to do it in the best possible way. Our day-to-day relationship with God is strengthened by our knowledge that Jesus is both fully human and fully God. (NEW LIFE FELLOWSHIP)

Lessons from Christ’s Humanity

Christ is the perfect human leader … and He wants to lead you

Christ is the perfect human model … and He is worth imitating

Christ is the perfect human sacrifice … and He died for you

Christ is the perfect human conqueror … and He conquered death to give you eternal life

Christ is the perfect human High Priest … and He is merciful, loving and understanding

Jesus… Better Than Anything

Throughout Hebrews we’re told how much better Jesus is.
He’s better than angels.
He’s better than any man that’s ever lived.
He’s a better high priest than has ever served.
He offers a better covenant than man has ever known, and
He offers a better sacrifice than has ever been offered.
Jesus is better… than anything.

Billy Sunday once said: “There are 256 names in the Bible for the Lord Jesus Christ, and I suppose this was because He was infinitely beyond ALL that any one name could express.”

Why would that be important for us to know that Jesus was better than all this? BECAUSE if we don’t realize how much better Jesus is, than anything we could possibly know, … something ALWAYS WILL be better. Whether it is money, love, power, popularity – something will always edge Jesus out if He is not regarded as being the “best” that we could have. And, if we don’t accept that Jesus is better than anything else in our lives, you and I will always be uncertain about our faith.

Back in 1992, George Barna conducted a survey of church people and found that only 55% of those who attend church regularly said that their faith affected the way they live. That meant that 45% felt their faith didn’t affect their lives. Why would that be? Because Jesus wasn’t all that much better than anything else in their lives.

If Jesus isn’t BETTER than anything else for us, we’ll neglect our salvation. As we get distracted and pursue “something else” we’ll drift away from God and face the danger of losing our salvation.

UNDERSTAND THIS AND TAKE NOTE: There is nothing better than Jesus.                                                                                   (JEFF STRITE)

The 10 Child Commandments To Parents

  1. My hands are small; please don’t expect perfection whenever I make a bed, draw a picture or throw a ball. My legs are short; please   slow down so that I can keep up with you.
  2. My eyes have not seen the world as yours have;  please let me explore safely. Don’t restrict me unnecessarily.
  3. Housework will always be there. I’m only little for a short time, please take time to explain things to me about this wonderful world and do so willingly.
  4. My feelings are tender, please be sensitive to my needs. Don’t nag me all day long. (You wouldn’t want to be nagged for your inquisitiveness). Treat me as you would like to be treated.
  5. Please don’t be afraid to leave for a weekend together. Kids need vacations from parents just as parents need vacations from kids. Besides, it’s a great way to show us kids that your marriage is special.
  6. I am a special gift from God; please treasure me as God intended you to do, holding me accountable for my actions, giving me guidelines to live by and disciplining me in a loving manner.
  7. Please give me freedom to make decisions concerning myself. Permit me to fail, so I can learn from my mistakes. Then someday I’ll be prepared to make the kinds of decisions that life requires of me.
  8. Please don’t overdo things for me.Somehow that makes me feel that my efforts didn’t quite measure up to your expectations. I know it’s hard, but please don’t try to compare me to my brother or sister.
  9. I need your encouragement to grow. Please go easy on the criticism; remember, you can criticize the things I do without criticizing me.
  10. Please take me to Sunday School and church regularly, setting a good example for me to follow. I enjoy learning more about God.
