This Week’s Prayer: 9th – 10th July 2022

Heavenly Father,

it looks like another busy day, but then it seems like they all are.

We anticipate the many things still on our “to do” list.

Father, Jesus disciplined his time to be alone with You each day.

Lord Jesus, your quiet moment with your Father was intentional and it was your priority.

Forgive us for self-reliance and for leaving you out in our haste to get things done.

Forgive us for those periods in our lives we have shut you down.

We confess that we let other things and the hectic pace of our lives steal away our time with you.

Empower us to resolve to put you first in our hearts and in our daily schedule.

In Jesus’ name, Amen

Prayer List: 9th – 10th July 2022

Sunday, (Jul 10) – Pray that God will open our eyes to His wonder, fill us with a hunger for His word, and give us the discipline to spend time alone with Him as Jesus did. Pray that we will prioritise prayer over everything else, emphasising reconnecting with God in the morning in order to experience peace and joy in His presence. Pray for God’s forgiveness for the times in our life when we allow other things in our busy lives take precedence over Him.

Monday, (Jul 11) – We thank God for the national holiday that we have today. May we find rest from the daily busyness, pause and reflect upon God’s goodness and rest in Him with our hearts reconnecting with Him. May this be a moment to reflect on people around us and spend some time, even briefly, with family, friends or neighbours. Pray that we seek and heed God’s discernment, in light of a surge in Covid-19 infections, as we continue to appreciate and enjoy fellowship with one another in person. Pray for those who are unwell that God’s presence with His healing, restoration and peace to be upon them.

Tuesday, (Jul 12) – Pray for divine opportunities and encounters for friendship, acts of kindness, and consciously communicating about God’s love and good news to our ‘neighbours’ with the Holy Spirit’s leading and guidance. Pray for the church to be so diligent in reconnecting with one another that we are no longer just acquaintances but are actually engaged in caring for and praying for each other’s struggles and needs. Pray that the church will be awakened from its slumber and comfort zone to be more deliberate in reaching out to those in our community who have yet to hear the good news.

Wednesday, (Jul 13)Pray for the Nation: Pray for the forthcoming Parliamentary sitting from July 18 to August 4, as well as strategic structural changes of Parliament, notably rules on anti-hopping and political funding, to be tabled and passed by Parliament before GE15. Pray for political and moral resolve among MPs to strive for the welfare of the people in this time of inflationary pressures. Pray for God’s timing for GE15, as well as for His will and Kingdom purpose to triumph.

Thursday, (Jul 14)TRAC: Pray for the Institute for Christian Ministry (ICM), as they consolidate the strategic training needs of the TRAC churches for the laity in the areas of spiritual formation, leadership development and practical skills for ministry. Pray for God’s wisdom and guidance to be upon the team and facilitators, and also for the unity among them, local TRAC churches and various TRAC boards as they work together. Pray for the Holy Spirit to be at work in every process of preparation and training, and that God will continue to use ICM as an avenue ‘to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the Body of Christ may be built up until we reach the unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.’ (Ephesians 4:12-13).

Friday, (Jul 15) – We thank God for the opportunity at the church mid-year review to reflect upon God’s faithfulness and guidance in the past six months of 2022 and also for His revelation and wisdom for the upcoming six months. Pray that God will inspire us to appreciate this privilege to gather together, desiring to worship Him and hear from Him through church services and other group gatherings, such as Cell groups, ministry groups and prayer groups. Pray for the unity and harmony in the church as we are united with the Lord as the source of our needs, that we care for and encourage one another, and grow together in Him. As many ministries resume in-person activities, we pray for God’s protection and wisdom to adhere SOPs, and for His guidance to mobilise God-given resources to meet the needs of both the members and the community.

Saturday (Jul 16)Pray for the World: Continue to pray for Sri Lanka. May God, in His mercy, hear the cries of the people of Sri Lanka, as the country suffers its worst financial crisis in decades, leaving millions of people struggling to buy food, medicine and fuel. Pray that God will guide the country leaders, the IMF and other international leaders to act quickly for the improvement of the situation. Pray for God’s divine provision and protection upon every person in the country from malnutrition, especially those who are sick, children and elderly people. Pray for God’s comfort and sustaining grace, as many people experience tremendous hardship queuing long hours to get fuel or spend nights without fans due to the power cuts.

This Week’s Prayer: 2nd – 3rd July 2022

Heavenly Father,

we thank you that you show your mercy, grace and help for all people through the cross of Jesus – through His life-giving sacrifice for our forgiveness and the salvation of the entire world.

Help us to press in, persist in plea, and persevere in prayer like the Canaanite woman.

Grant unto us the kind of faith – a faith that won’t give up, firm and unwavering.

We trust in who you are, and what you are able to do, Lord Jesus. In you, all things hold together.

And God we pray, that you would be glorified in our asking and our persevering in pressing in, in intercession and petitioning that it might be said of us, “Great is your faith, be it done as you desire.”

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer List: 2nd – 3rd July 2022

Sunday, (Jul 3) – Thank you for an encouraging narrative about a Canaanite woman whose faith in Jesus has taught generations of Christians that salvation comes not from becoming a Jew, but from faith in Christ. Pray that God will teach us to pray with tenacious faith (like the Canaanite woman) that our prayers will be answered in His mercy. Pray that we will be inspired by this narrative to become more and more like Jesus, who shows compassion to people of other races, ethnic groups, and nationalities who are socially marginalised or voiceless.

Monday, (Jul 4)Pray for family. We thank God that we are a part of the large family in our Lord Jesus as a body of Christ. May God be the centre of each and every home. Pray for God’s grace and strength to be upon parents and grandparents that they will love God wholeheartedly and lead the children to walk in His ways, exercising faith in the person and work of our Lord Jesus. Pray for the youth and young adults that they will desire to have a personal relationship with Jesus and to pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace. Pray that God will protect little children and elderly family members from harm.

Tuesday, (Jul 5) – Pray for our national church leaders to love one another, to work together in unity and humility, and to pray for and care for one another regardless of denominational differences. Pray for repentance and a return to the first love and to serve God with all of their hearts, souls, and minds. Pray for God to raise up Gen Z & Millennial, especially with the declining numbers of theologically trained pastors and ministers in seminaries and bible colleges.

Wednesday, (Jul 6)Pray for the Nation: Pray that God will reign over the political arena in our country and that God’s removal and installation of country leaders (Daniel: 2:21) will be fulfilled. Pray that our government maintains current subsidies in the midst of the cost of living crisis, takes corrective action to ensure food-chain supply stability, and reduces ministerial and deputy ministerial pay as living costs soar. Pray for good governance, bold leadership to combat extremism and humble leaders to step forward to serve as God’s stewards.

Thursday, (Jul 7) – Pray for the Methodist Council of Education (MCOE) and its affiliated schools, colleges and institutions. Pray for continuous God’s providence upon all the schools as they aim to provide comprehensive and holistic education founded on the Methodist Vision, Mission and Philosophy of Education and to impact lives and Nation through it. Pray that God will send more teachers who fear God and have passion in teaching and impacting lives of young people. Pray that God will provide more young people opportunities to attend these schools so that they might not only succeed academically, but also grow to love God and they will be empowered to live with wisdom and humility, justice and integrity, and courage and selflessness.

Friday, (Jul 8) – Pray for our church to press on and persevere in its mission to be a house of prayer for all nations (Isaiah 56:7c), just as the early church prayed (Acts 4:31), offering God the prayer of the church as the body of Christ for Him to accomplish what is in His heart and fulfil His will in this church. Pray for the church to be more intentional in reconnecting with God and with one another through various means, guided and led by the Holy Spirit. Continue to pray for good governance in the church and the country, for “A Renewed Church,” and for holy living so that the church will be strengthened and fortified against the evil one’s attacks.

Saturday (Jul 9)Pray for the World: Continue to pray for God’s divine intervention to put an end to the Russia-Ukraine war, because not only does it destroy the precious lives and the cities in both countries, but it also affects the supply chain globally. Pray for God’s providence to be upon nations and the leaders as some are facing financial crisis. Pray for cooperation from world leaders to bring about peace, political and social stability, and economic recovery in the world. Pray against the next Covid-19 wave outbreak.
