This Week’s Prayer: 16th – 17th July 2022

Heavenly Father,

thank you that You are our ever-present rock of refuge and never-failing strength and stronghold.

No matter what comes in our lives, in youthfulness, exciting and challenging, or aging, growing frail, perhaps painfully, you have been our strong tower against our adversaries.

You enable us to do far more than all we could ask or imagine.

You are our help, always present when we need you, even in times when we can’t perceive you or when we are gripped by doubt.

May we remember that you have promised that you are always with us in every situation we face, we are not alone.

Our solid anchor is in you.

AMEN

Prayer List: 16th – 17th July 2022

Sunday, (Jul 17) – Pray that we will be friends and a listening ear to those suffering from mental illnesses, anxiety, and depression. Pray for the release of assistance resources, the employment of adequate personnel, and the allocation of funds to national mental health programs. Give thanks to God for being our ever-present fortress and tower of refuge.

Monday, (Jul 18) – Pray for our church Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Brigade ministries. Thanks be to God that they have started physical meetings. Pray for the captains, officers, boys, and girls, for their safety, health and wellbeing, especially in light of a surge in Covid-19 infections. Pray for God’s wisdom and strength to be upon the captains and officers. Pray that God’s presence is among boys and girls in each meeting so that they will come to know and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Pray for Boys’ Brigade’s boot camp that is held this Saturday and Sunday (July 23 and 24) in the church. 40 boys, 6 officers and the Captain will be attending. Pray for God’s protection and guidance that all is conducted well and smoothly for His glory.

Tuesday, (Jul 19) – Pray for a repentant spirit for Malaysian churches for their lukewarmness, forsaking the Lord as their first love and the priorities of His kingdom. Pray for a contrite heart against the spirit of consumerism, that they choose which elements of God they want while rejecting the rest, particularly to seek the power of Christ’s resurrection without sharing in His sufferings (Phil. 3:10-11). Pray against the prideful spirit that causes them to be more concerned with building their own kingdom for self-glory than with building God’s church.

Wednesday, (Jul 20)Pray for the Nation: Pray for our government to expedite the approval process for foreign worker applications so that economic recovery efforts are not jeopardized. Pray for wisdom and favor for our government to take immediate action to address the shortage of foreign workers after Indonesia announced a temporary freeze on migrant workers for Malaysia. Pray for increased public vigilance against complacency in the face of a new wave of BA.4 and BA.5 variants that are highly infectious.

Thursday, (Jul 21)TRAC: Pray alongside the Board of Youth Work, as they work toward raising up future generations of proactive God-fearing youths who are personally experiencing dynamic spiritual transformation and are on fire for Christ in their family, in TRAC, and this world. Pray for God’s guidance to be upon them as they empower and work with parents and churches to journey with youths. Pray that God will guard young people’s minds and hearts so that they will desire to learn more about Jesus both intellectually and experientially and they will grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and be secured with their identity in Christ, they will also desire to share with others about our Lord Jesus.

Friday, (Jul 22) – Continue to pray for families, friends, and people around us in the community that they would come to know Jesus. Pray earnestly and persistently for God’s mercy upon them, for His desire that all are saved and returned to Him. Pray that God will guide us to have perceptive eyes, ears and hearts to understand their needs and way of life. Pray that God will help us to build a good relationship with them and grant us the opportunity to share His Word and love with them. Pray for courage and trust God that His Spirit being in us, will guide us with His love and Word.

Saturday (Jul 23)Pray for the World: Continue to pray for Sri Lanka. Pray that the country’s order is restored and maintained without violence. Pray that God will raise courageous leaders who care about their nation and its people, and commit to leading for the improvement of the economy and the quality of life for all. Pray that IMF’s aid talks with Sir Lanka will resume soon and continue to be constructive and productive. Pray for God’s intervention and mercy that essential needs will be reached to each individual of the country daily.

This Week’s Prayer: 9th – 10th July 2022

Heavenly Father,

it looks like another busy day, but then it seems like they all are.

We anticipate the many things still on our “to do” list.

Father, Jesus disciplined his time to be alone with You each day.

Lord Jesus, your quiet moment with your Father was intentional and it was your priority.

Forgive us for self-reliance and for leaving you out in our haste to get things done.

Forgive us for those periods in our lives we have shut you down.

We confess that we let other things and the hectic pace of our lives steal away our time with you.

Empower us to resolve to put you first in our hearts and in our daily schedule.

In Jesus’ name, Amen

Prayer List: 9th – 10th July 2022

Sunday, (Jul 10) – Pray that God will open our eyes to His wonder, fill us with a hunger for His word, and give us the discipline to spend time alone with Him as Jesus did. Pray that we will prioritise prayer over everything else, emphasising reconnecting with God in the morning in order to experience peace and joy in His presence. Pray for God’s forgiveness for the times in our life when we allow other things in our busy lives take precedence over Him.

Monday, (Jul 11) – We thank God for the national holiday that we have today. May we find rest from the daily busyness, pause and reflect upon God’s goodness and rest in Him with our hearts reconnecting with Him. May this be a moment to reflect on people around us and spend some time, even briefly, with family, friends or neighbours. Pray that we seek and heed God’s discernment, in light of a surge in Covid-19 infections, as we continue to appreciate and enjoy fellowship with one another in person. Pray for those who are unwell that God’s presence with His healing, restoration and peace to be upon them.

Tuesday, (Jul 12) – Pray for divine opportunities and encounters for friendship, acts of kindness, and consciously communicating about God’s love and good news to our ‘neighbours’ with the Holy Spirit’s leading and guidance. Pray for the church to be so diligent in reconnecting with one another that we are no longer just acquaintances but are actually engaged in caring for and praying for each other’s struggles and needs. Pray that the church will be awakened from its slumber and comfort zone to be more deliberate in reaching out to those in our community who have yet to hear the good news.

Wednesday, (Jul 13)Pray for the Nation: Pray for the forthcoming Parliamentary sitting from July 18 to August 4, as well as strategic structural changes of Parliament, notably rules on anti-hopping and political funding, to be tabled and passed by Parliament before GE15. Pray for political and moral resolve among MPs to strive for the welfare of the people in this time of inflationary pressures. Pray for God’s timing for GE15, as well as for His will and Kingdom purpose to triumph.

Thursday, (Jul 14)TRAC: Pray for the Institute for Christian Ministry (ICM), as they consolidate the strategic training needs of the TRAC churches for the laity in the areas of spiritual formation, leadership development and practical skills for ministry. Pray for God’s wisdom and guidance to be upon the team and facilitators, and also for the unity among them, local TRAC churches and various TRAC boards as they work together. Pray for the Holy Spirit to be at work in every process of preparation and training, and that God will continue to use ICM as an avenue ‘to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the Body of Christ may be built up until we reach the unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.’ (Ephesians 4:12-13).

Friday, (Jul 15) – We thank God for the opportunity at the church mid-year review to reflect upon God’s faithfulness and guidance in the past six months of 2022 and also for His revelation and wisdom for the upcoming six months. Pray that God will inspire us to appreciate this privilege to gather together, desiring to worship Him and hear from Him through church services and other group gatherings, such as Cell groups, ministry groups and prayer groups. Pray for the unity and harmony in the church as we are united with the Lord as the source of our needs, that we care for and encourage one another, and grow together in Him. As many ministries resume in-person activities, we pray for God’s protection and wisdom to adhere SOPs, and for His guidance to mobilise God-given resources to meet the needs of both the members and the community.

Saturday (Jul 16)Pray for the World: Continue to pray for Sri Lanka. May God, in His mercy, hear the cries of the people of Sri Lanka, as the country suffers its worst financial crisis in decades, leaving millions of people struggling to buy food, medicine and fuel. Pray that God will guide the country leaders, the IMF and other international leaders to act quickly for the improvement of the situation. Pray for God’s divine provision and protection upon every person in the country from malnutrition, especially those who are sick, children and elderly people. Pray for God’s comfort and sustaining grace, as many people experience tremendous hardship queuing long hours to get fuel or spend nights without fans due to the power cuts.
