Pray that the Lord would use us in these dark and terrible times when the world appears to be spinning out of control and that we will never forget the Lord’s faithfulness in keeping His promises to a thousand generations. sisters, especially from the younger generation, will join with their God-given gifts to lead the ministry.

Monday, (Aug 15) – Thanks and Praise be to God that more people are returning to church weekend worship services, which are also followed by the fellowship with refreshments on Sundays. As we gather together before Him as His people in one Spirit, may God continue to instill in our hearts the privilege and joy to worship Him together, only one true God and wise God, who alone deserves all our praises. Pray for the peace of God to be among us so that we can concentrate on giving Him our complete adoration and thanksgiving despite the ongoing covid cases and life struggles. Pray that church will continue to be a welcoming community to new comers, a caring and encouraging to those unable to attend the services and that we together belong to Christ.

Pray for God’s light to shine on them and implant godly values in their hearts and minds. Pray that our current education system would be efficient and in hindsight plan to train youths holistically so that they will be well equipped in terms of skills and character when they begin their careers life. Pray that parents and educators develop specific measures to assist reduce truancy, which causes societal problems.

Wednesday, (Aug 17)Pray for the Nation: Continue to pray for wisdom for our government in better managing economic issues that affect rakyat livelihoods, and to psychologically prepare them for more difficult times ahead due to worsening US-China relations and a period of prolonged high inflation amidst disruptions in supply chains on foods and raw materials caused by the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. Pray that our government would implement practical ways to assist in the reduction of many rakyats’ financial burdens that exceed their ability to repay. May we return to intimacy with God and a lifestyle surrendered to Him.

Saturday (Aug 20)Pray for the World: Pray against any further escalation of the possibility of US-China miscalculations over tensions in the Taiwan Strait, which Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has warned that a storm is brewing as US-China relations deteriorate, with intractable issues, deep suspicions, and limited engagement. Pray for central banks worldwide to implement strong policies and measures to combat the rapid inflation that is affecting a wide range of products and services, as well as the dramatic drop-in economic activity. Pray for the threat of starvation, which today affects 45 million people in 43 countries throughout the world, according to World Vision, and ambitions of eradicating hunger by 2030 are significantly stalled owing to the continuous war conflict, COVID-19, and climate change.

Reflection: 13th – 14th Aug 2022

An Englishman meets an Indian who talks with great enthusiasm about Jesus Christ. The Englishman says to his new friend, “You are always talking about Jesus Christ. Why do you make such a big deal of Him?”

The Indian gathered some leaves, twigs, and moss, and placed them in a circle on the ground. He picked up a live worm and put it in the middle of the circle. Then he lit the leaves. As the flames rose, the worm began to move, but every way it moved, it got nearer to the flame, and after a few moments it curled up in the middle and prepared to die.

The Indian reached his hand into the flame, picked up the worm, and held it next to his heart. Then he said, “I was the worm—helpless, hopeless, and on the brink of eternal fire. Jesus Christ stretched out His hand, saved me from the fire, and took me into the heart of his love. That is why I make much of him.

Heavenly Father, lead us to love You with more of our heart, more of our soul, more of our mind and more of our strength, and more of our muchness with one another. We need a Savior who can bring us into this — constantly and increasingly.

This Week’s Prayer: 6th – 7th Aug 2022

Lord, we feel the challenge to our own hearts to be dedicated, responsible, trustworthy men and women who are not in love in the present world and will not turn back from the things of Christ, but will remain faithful to the end, testifying to the grace of God sustaining and keeping us through the pressures of life.

Thank you for these wonderful letters that encourage us to this end, until the Day dawns and every shadow flees away.

We pray in Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Prayer List: 6th – 7th Aug 2022

Sunday, (Aug 7)Pray for Methodist Women’s ministry. We thank God for entrusting the church with this ministry, where women connect with women encouraging and helping to grow in the knowledge of God and in their relationship with Him that transforms their lives. Pray for God’s protection, wisdom, and guidance to be upon each sister, as they also go out into the community to reach out to people. Pray for the lost souls to whom they minister, that they will come to receive the amazing grace of our Lord Jesus. Pray that more sisters, especially from the younger generation, will join with their God-given gifts to lead the ministry.

Monday, (Aug 8)Pray for Rev Gaurri, as August is the last month of her 3-month Sabbatical. Pray for God’s protection of her and her family. Pray that Rev Gaurri will receive true rest that only comes from abiding in our Lord Jesus and a closer relationship with Him. Pray for God’s grace and mercy to be richly upon her that He will renew her strength and passion with joy. Pray that God will reveal great plans for her and grant her assurances with His providence, as she continues to serve Him and seek the advancement of His kingdom through Klang Wesley and in the community.

Tuesday, (Aug 9) – Pray for those who are sick that they are healed and restored by the Lord. Pray for a double portion of God’s grace and strength, as they face adversities, and the grace to restore them, particularly those suffering from long Covid symptoms and mental health issues. Pray for the youth and young adults to flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the lord from a pure heart (2 Tim.2:22).

Wednesday, (Aug 10)Pray for the Nation: Continue to pray for God’s grace and mercy over our beloved nation, which is being ravaged by greater division and political instability. Pray for God’s protection and sovereign will to reign in any evil plots or violent attempts to take advantage of the current chaos. Pray for wisdom and God’s mercy as our nation and the rakyat bear the weight of rising interest rates, larger debt post-pandemic, and an outsized subsidy bill that triggers the rising national debt.

Thursday, (Aug 11)TRAC: Pray for the OLM-PLUS – an extension from Organizational Leadership Modules that is to be held on Aug.13 and 14 for the Central District 2 at Trinity Methodist Church, PJ, organized by TRAC Institute for Christian Ministry. Pray for the leading of the Holy Spirit throughout the sessions that both facilitators and participants will be sensitive to God’s presence and His guidance, especially as they explore, reflect, learn and understand what it means to live out their calling and role as a spiritual leader and to grow in becoming a leadership community. Pray for fruitful reflection and discussion, from which they may bring back to the respective church after the sessions for encouragement and growth.

Friday, (Aug 12) – Pray for people’s and property’s safety, especially in light of the recent heavy rains. Pray for smooth traffic and for God’s protection to be upon those on the roads so that rain will not obstruct their vision. Pray that God will continue to guide the local authorities in their efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change and floods. Pray that the community will receive the essential information or warning about such climate change in time to help lessen its consequences.

Saturday (Aug 13)Pray for the World: Pray that God will transform the hearts of the leaders so that they will fear God and lead the country with integrity and servanthood for the people and show compassion and consideration for both their country and the rest of the world. Pray for peace to be preserved in view of the recent tension between the US and China over Taiwan. Pray for God’s intervention upon North Korea that they will cease conducting missile tests and nuclear testing and will even stop expanding them. Pray for God’s justice and mercy upon Myanmar that human rights and democracy are upheld.
