How have you grown as a result of XEE?

I have grown in many ways as a result of XEE. One of them includes the growing concern for the lost and unsaved. I used to be quite apathetic about this and didn’t really care much about the salvation of others, not even those of my own friends. But I begin to see the reality and importance of sharing this love that God so freely gave and is now giving to everyone who would come to Him.

I also realized how easy it is to just miss that many opportunities God had given us to share the good news with others. Through XEE, I became more sensitive to the prompting of the Holy Spirit regarding the spiritual needs of others. XEE also gave me the confidence to share the good news with others and at the same time, relying on the work of the Holy Spirit in the heart of others.

What impact has it made in your life?

I recognized that as a Christian, I am entrusted with the Word of God, and not sharing it with others would be selfish and sinful since Jesus Himself commanded us of the great Commission. There is a great harvest out there and people wouldn’t know about God and what He had done if we do not share it with others. I think Christians are actually channels of blessings in the lives of others whether spiritually, emotionally or physically. We have the privilege to make an impact in the lives of others based on our personal testimonies.

I used to be afraid of sharing my faith in God with others because I thought that if my life didn’t reflect what and how a good Christian should behave, then sharing my faith would be some sort of a joke or embarrassment. However, I learned that we shouldn’t be ashamed or underestimate the sharing of the word of God because it has the power to save. Secondly, we are all work in progress and will never be perfect until we see God face to face. Therefore, we should look as Jesus as the role model.

How you might help others to benefit?

Share the contents of XEE or about XEE to followers of Christ, as well as my experiences during the course.

XEE Traning Testimony – Lim Jit Ling

I am glad I participated and successfully completed the XEE course. I learned EE several years ago, and was very impressed of its non-threatening approach to sharing the gospel. Now that XEE is available, I signed up to learn this ‘updated’ version of the EE to reach out to the younger X-generation.

I found the presentation structure very systematic, easy to remember and language used contemporary and acceptable by secular people. The flexibility allowed in adapting the story or example to suit the individual prospect is a big advantage as I can express myself more naturally depending on the situation and prospect. I found the XEE to have lesser items to memorize, and the subject flow and links from one section to another is memory-friendly. In other words, comparing with the EE, this is an easier evangelistic tool to learn.

I’m very encouraged and have more confidence of sharing the gospel with people of all ages with the XEE approach, and I look forward to applying it when sharing the good news with anyone in the future.

XEE Training Testimony – Courtney Teoh

How you have grown as a result of XEE?

I understand fully how to present the Gospel, and I’ve learned more about the flow of sharing the Gospel, and it has sharpened my mind, so that I have a clear conscious that there are some key points regarding to the Gospel. Besides that, the content of XEE has assured me of my salvation and increase in my spiritual life.

What impact it has made on your life?

An eye opener for me to reach out the Gospel to the young generation, and a tool for me to share the Gospel with my siblings and friends. And it makes me bold enough to take initiative to dare share the Gospel to whoever I meet at anywhere and any places.

How you might help others to benefit?

As I am Chinese educated, I am able now to use XEE in Chinese to share with the Chinese speaking people. Besides that, I will challenge the church members to join XEE. Hopefully, I will introduce XEE in my future ministry in other church.

Who you will invite to join XEE and lead in the next cycle of training?

At the moment, I have no one in mind and I am still considering about it.

XEE Training Testimony – Paul Lee Chong Un

How you have grown as a result of XEE?

XEE has continuously strengthening my faith in Jesus Christ and deepening my understanding in the gospel. Besides that, I have grown more spiritually mature since a person needs to really understand the grace of God that has given us life to the full eternally before sharing the gospel to another person.

What impact it has made on your life?

I become more confident to share the gospel to people that I know and also to people that I don’t know. How you might help others to benefit?

By encouraging and inviting them to join Xee in the future. Besides that, 1 would want to join the future Xee as a trainer to help others to also learn the best method to evangelize.

Who you will invite to join XEE and lead in the next cycle of training?

I will invite my church friends and also my friends in the Kiang College CG to join next semester XEE.

XEE Training Testimony – Cheryl Yung

The journey of XEE started with a phone call. It was a number I didn’t recognize. Hesitated in picking up but I did anyway. “Hello” I said. “Hello, Cheryl? Lee Shum here” Quickly searched the name Lee Shum in my head. Finally it clicked! Lee Shum from church. “Would you like to join XEE?” I was actually searching for a reason to reject but I couldn’t find anything (Praise God). So, I agreed and I was enlisted for this season’s XEE. But you know what, it was the best decision I’ve made in many years.

All this While I’ve always envisioned XEE as a class that teaches you to go preach long windy gospel to others, and the younger me then thought that it’s tough cause not many people would like that kind of approach. I could never be more wrong. XEE’s structure and approach was really very different from what I thought. It’s easy to understand and easy to apply. It was really fun and the gospel stories that we present were really interesting, impactful and organized. This made me more confident when I’m approaching others to share about the gospel. It also helped me to overcome my fear when people ask me what Christianity is all about. I never know where to start or even how? Should I tell them who Jesus is? Or start from the very beginning? Or how I became a Christian?

XEE’s approach is simple yet concise. The structure and content sums up the entire gospel in a very simple way, about life, us, God, Jesus, Faith and response. It’s not intrusive in any way and it’s really really easy. The more practice I got, the easier it became. Aunty Rubina was right all along. Now, not only am I sharing God’s word (which is something I’ve been longing to do for so long) but at the same time I am also storing up treasures in heaven. As Mathew:19-20 says, 19“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.” I thank God everyday for that phone call that helped me grow.

A Lost Generation?

This poem is a palindrome (a word or phrase that reads the same backwards as forwards), and as it is written:

I am part of a lost generation
and I refuse to believe that
I can change the world
I realize this may be a shock but
“Happiness comes from within”
Is a lie
“Money will make me happy”
Work

Now reverse the poem, and read it line by line backwards:

When the God of the Bible is put first in your life, then no matter what life throws at you, you will succeed. God must be first. God told Israel: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”  (Deuteronomy 6:5)

Our Lord Jesus Christ tells His Church: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” (Matthew 22:37)

When God is placed first in our lives, when we follow Him by faith, then we can overcome. We can make a difference.

Our Spiritual Diet: Eat Your Cow!

What do Bibles and cows have in common?

They provide us with food that sustains our lives. The cow provides us with milk and meat. Likewise, the Bible gives us milk and meat. The milk is the foundational principles, and the meat is the deeper things that take spiritual discernment and hard work to understand. Since we are all to be growing, we need nourishment that can be provided by the Bible and the cow.

The milk: Milk is the primary nutrition for young mammals before they are able to digest other types of food. The milk of a cow is relatively easier to get than the meat. You just milk the cow and you just have to drink it. It’s the foundational stuff that we have to build on.
In the Bible, there are principles that are basic and foundational. These basics are clear, and it’s easier to see how to apply them to our lives. Therefore, as a starting place, we should “desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby” (1 Peter 2:2).

The meat: Now, however, the meat is not quite that easy. First, we have to butcher the cow. Then we have to separate the meat from the fat and other internal organs that we don’t want. Then we have to cook the meat. Then we have to chew it up before we can finally digest it.
We need to dig deep into God’s Word to get to the spiritual meat. We have to put scriptures together properly to get the full meaning. We have to meditate on it to see where it applies to our lives. We have to chew it up and break it down. We have to study God’s Word. This means we have to understand it before we fully digest it and apply it to our lives. That’s the essence of wisdom. Wisdom is properly applying the understanding of the knowledge we have.

We need a balanced spiritual diet:  In our spiritual development we need both milk and meat. Otherwise we will not grow to the fullest of our potential. Milk gives us strong bones. But meat helps us develop our muscle structure. Without developing our muscles, we wouldn’t be able to move those strong bones.
We have to have the right spiritual nutrition. We have to be growing. We have to be getting better at righteousness. We must be growing in the right direction. We cannot be stagnant. Staying idle means we are getting worse, not developing godly character. Stagnation results in underdevelopment. We get weaker in our spiritual battles.
We come together to eat spiritual food on Sundays. But we have to eat every day. We have to study the Bible every day for it to be profitable to us.
The Bible is our cow. It gives us the milk and the meat. But we have to open it up.

Remember Jesus Christ’s promise: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6)

Exemplary Children In The Bible

JESUS: The Lord Jesus was an exemplary child. He grew in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and man. He was well versed in the Scriptures. Even as a child at the age of twelve, He could discuss spiritual truths with the religious scholars. Jesus is an example for our children. We should also bring up our children in the ways of the Lord and teach them the Scriptures at an early age. We should be greatly concerned about their spiritual growth and their relationship with the Lord and get them involved in activities that would enable them to grow in the Lord.

SAMUEL: Even as a child Samuel was ministering before the Lord. He grew up in the presence of the Lord and grew in stature and in favour with the Lord and with people. As a result, at a time when the word of the Lord was rare, the Lord spoke to the child Samuel. The Lord did not choose to speak to the older priests but rather chose to speak to a child who was serving him faithfully. The Lord chose Samuel to become a great prophet to the people of Israel. When we raise up our children to serve the Lord even at a young age, they can also experience hearing the voice of the Lord and be a great blessing to others.

THE MAID IN NAAMAN’S HOUSE: The young girl who served as a maid in the house Naaman was an exemplary child. Even though she was taken captive from her homeland, she had no bitterness towards her master. She did not rejoice to see him as a leper. She did not wish that all the others in that home should also become lepers. Instead she wanted her master to be healed of his leprosy. She testified about the prophet in Israel who could heal her master. She may not have been able to preach a sermon or heal a leper. But she did what she could and shared the testimony about the prophet of the Lord. And through her testimony, Naaman was able to get healed from leprosy. We must also raise our children to testify about the Lord even at a young age and the Lord would use them to bless others.

JOHN THE BAPTIST: The Lord filled John with the Holy Spirit even when he was in his mother’s womb. The hand of the Lord was with him even in his childhood. He grew up and became strong in spirit. He went on to become the forerunner of the Lord Jesus Christ. We must also seek the Lord to fill our children with the Holy Spirit even in their childhood. We must lead our children to become strong in spirit . We should not be concerned only with their physical growth and neglect their spiritual well being.
